Dear esteemed members of MDA,
As the second quarter of FY 2019 draws to a close, my presidency also expires. On behalf of the outgoing MDA Council and all subcommittee, I express our sincere gratitude for the opportunity to complete and serve our two-year term. It has been a great honor while rewarding, and personally enriching experience to represent the dental fraternity in this fast-changing and evolving dental landscape. I take this golden opportunity to express once again our utmost gratitude to the general membership for the continued support to the Council, and above all, our beloved Association.
I also take this opportunity to express once again, my sincere appreciation to all MDA stakeholders for their support and the close collaboration with the MDA. They are our comrades in the oral health playground, namely the Oral Health Program, Ministry of Health, the Dental Deans’ Council, the Dental Division of Malaysian Armed Forces, the affiliate associations and the dental trade partners.
As we look back on an extraordinary year, I would like to acknowledge the ongoing commitment and dedication of the MDA council members, standing committees and subcommittees, not forgetting the MDA Secretariat staff. They certainly deserve all the compliments for the evident paced growth and stability of association detailed in this annual report. While the person at the top should get the blame when things go wrong, the praise for the good should belong to all of them.
I truly understand that members of the Council, the committee and the Association have been through a lot of sweat and tears in order to secure our benefits and interests. I must admit that all of them have demonstrated great loyalty and diligence towards your respective obligations. Truly, MDA is proud to have such proactive members who have never failed to serve the association with admirable endurance while exhibiting the spirit of teamwork. And thus, I would like to take this opportunity to say that I appreciate each and every single effort and sacrifice from the bottom of my heart. I feel so proud and honored to have been able to lead this excellent team.
Ladies and gentlemen.
Again another remarkable year 2018 lies behind us. 16 June 2019 marks the date set for the 76th MDA Annual General Meeting ( AGM). The Notice of AGM and Agenda, appended with the Annual Report 2018/2019 had been duly sent to you via email. It has always been a pleasure to be able to present such accomplishments in our beloved association. While truthfully providing a real portrait of the association, the Annual Report also showcases many notable achievements. It reflects not only the strong performances and growth in 2018 but also above all, the direction of the MDA leadership and opportunities of the future.
I take pride to report that the management by the finance committee has been successful in positive financial perspective. Kudos to the finance committee of MDA, comprising members from Headquarters and Zones !! Congratulations on another great year so well documented in the financial report.
On this note, dear esteemed members, please be assured the MDA council always seeks to strive for the best in the journey we aspire to make our beloved association sustainable for the benefit of all members at large, and the profession in particular.
As I respectfully hand over to Dr. Leong Kei Joe and his esteemed Council, it is my fervent hope that we will continue to forge stronger bonds of rapport and radiate our spirit of cohesiveness on all MDA events. I sincerely hope that in the future there will be greater leaders who would make a bold move to step up and take over the new leadership. Rome was not built in a day. In order to raise the MDA to a greater height, we need new ideas and fresh blood to run and improvise the Association.
