MESSAGE FROM THE HONOURABLE
PRINCIPAL DIRECTOR OF ORAL HEALTH
MINISTRY OF HEALTH MALAYSIA
Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh, and Salam Malaysia MADANI
Dear distinguished guests, esteemed colleagues, and fellow participants,
It is with great pleasure and honour that I welcome everyone to the 31st MDA Scientific
Convention and Trade Exhibition (SCATE). This highly anticipated annual event marks the
beginning of the convention season each year. I express my sincere congratulations and
appreciation to the Malaysian Dental Association and the organizing committee for their
diligent and invaluable efforts in planning this remarkable convention. I am confident that
the organizing committee has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to ensuring
an impressive scientific convention. This event brings together renowned speakers from
various disciplines, both from Malaysia and abroad, to share their expert knowledge in their
respective fields for the benefit of the dental community here in Kuala Lumpur.
The theme of this year’s convention, “Dentistry Reimagined,” promises a diverse range
of keynote speakers, workshops, and insightful forums that aim to broaden perspectives,
stimulate deep thought, and encourage creative approaches to dynamic dental reforms.
“Dentistry Reimagined” reflects the resilience and innovation within the dental community.
Globally, our dental and medical professions are at the forefront of innovation, driven by
the importance of quality patient care and outcomes. The remarkable advancements in
innovation have transformed our understanding and pursuit of excellence. As we navigate
through this rapid transformation, we must foster more active collaboration among various
stakeholders and promote interdisciplinary teamwork, moving away from siloed approaches.
In the realm of oral health, our shared commitment to innovation and excellence is of utmost
importance. This convention serves as a crucial platform for us to explore the transformative
possibilities within dentistry and collectively envision a future where oral health is not only a
part of healthcare but also a cornerstone of holistic and integrated care.
As the Principal Director of the Oral Health Programme at the Ministry of Health, Malaysia,
I believe this event presents an incredible opportunity for future collaborations, active
knowledge exchange, and the introduction of cutting-edge advancements as we strive for
excellence.
This event promises to be a catalyst for reimagining dentistry, addressing our challenges,
and charting a course towards a healthier future. The Ministry of Health has always strongly
advocated and supported programs for continuous professional development in the dental
profession, as well as engagement in partnerships that can enhance the quality of patient
care.
In alignment with our commitment to global standards and best practices, I would like to
emphasize the significance of aligning our collective efforts with the Global Oral Health
Action Plan 2023-2030. This international framework, established by the World Health
Organization, outlines strategic objectives and priority actions to improve oral health globally.
Our National Oral Health Policy and National Oral Health Strategic Plan 2022-2030, reflective
of our commitment to the Global Oral Health Action Plan, serve as guideposts for our
initiatives. Through these policies, we aim to address key challenges, enhance preventive
measures, and promote access to quality oral healthcare services for all Malaysians. By
linking our local efforts with global strategies, we strengthen the foundation for achieving
optimal oral health outcomes.
I wish all the participants success and a fruitful convention. Take this opportunity to gain and
update your knowledge with the latest information from our esteemed speakers, engage in
insightful discussions, and foster interdisciplinary collaboration. Lastly, may all participants
have an enlightening experience and make valuable connections at the convention.
Sincerely,
YBrs. Dr. Noormi binti Othman
