Speaker’s Lecture :
CBCT in Oral Surgery- “Stranger to Best Friend”
Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) is a valuable imaging technique in oral
surgery that can help guide a surgeon in managing a variety of conditions affecting the
maxillofacial region. A 3-dimensional analysis of the region’s anatomy allows practitioners
to plan precisely, operate with confidence, and assess results post-operatively. CBCT has
been available for clinicians to use for the last few years and the use is steadily increasing.
To utilize it to its full potential it is imperative to understand the indications, applications
and limitations of this valuable tool.
‘The eyes can’t see what the mind doesn’t know’- this talk will focus on delivering an overview
of the functions in the CBCT software, interpretating CBCT images and application of this
knowledge in your daily practice to enhance patient care and improve patient safety. The
areas that would benefit are diagnosis, treatment planning and definitive management
including patient education.
