musculoskeletal and sports-related injuries. As an active teenager, Ivan has dabbled in a
wide variety of sports, such as rock climbing, badminton, running, and many others. He has

goals. Ivan believes that when he focuses on making people feel strong and comfortable in
their bodies, it then encourages them to naturally want to move more. As an advocate of
active rehabilitation, he also utilises manual therapy and Dry Needling as a supplement to
the effectiveness for recovery and injury prevention.
Lecture : Prehab and Injury Management for Dentists
As healthcare practitioners, our top priority is our patient’s well-being but how often do we
get hurt or injured because of poor posture or work-related strains on our body? The most
reported cause of occupational disease and injury among dentists is improper position of the
body at work, followed by stress. As a result of this, the common sites of musculoskeletal pain
experienced by dentists are lower back pain, neck pain and carpal tunnel syndrome. All of
which are easily avoidable with proper education on posture, work ergonomics and corrective
exercises. In a world where healthcare services are constantly in demand, work related injuries
should be the last reason for us to not work. Therefore, prevention is always better than cure.
We should be better equipped with tools to take care of our bodies well before the neck or
back pains become debilitating. Dentists who exercise on a regular basis are less at risk of
experiencing work related musculoskeletal pain. Therefore, this talk will be focused on teaching
dentists practical and useful steps in preventing work related neck, lower back, and wrist
pain. As well as lifestyle modifications that would improve overall well being and quality of life.
Although the majority of the session will be centred around preventing injuries we will also look
into what can be done once an injury has occurred.
