CONFERENCE SPEAKER
ASSOC. PROF. DR ANNAPURNY VENKITESWARAN
Dr Annapurny graduated from University Malaya, Kuala Lumpur in 2002. She
completed her Clinical Masters In Paediatric Dentistry in 2010 and also obtained a
Membership of Faculty of Dental Surgery, England in 2008. She is a trained clinical
hypnotherapist and obtained her Diploma in Hypnotherapy from London College
of Clinical Hypnosis in 2015. She has also completed a PGDip in the field of Health
Economics from the University of South Wales in 2020.
Dr Annapurny is currently an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Dentistry, UiTM
and is actively involved in teaching and research. Area of interest includes Dental
Traumatology, Craniofacial Anomalies and Hypnosis. She currently holds the position
of Vice President of the Malaysian Society of Clinical Hypnosis (MSCH) and the Editor-
In-Chief for Malaysian Journal of Paediatric Dentistry. She also serves on the Social
Media Committee for the International Association of Dental Traumatology.

Dental Trauma Unveiled: Clinical Insights and Tips for Practitioners
The handling of traumatized teeth continues to be a captivating topic due to the
introduction of numerous new treatment approaches. Guidelines for effective
management are readily accessible, primarily through the resources offered by
the International Association of Dental Traumatology (IADT). This presentation will
delve into the most recent updates and revisions in IADT guidelines, examining their
practical application in clinical scenarios.
DR MARIA LESSANI
Maria qualified from Birmingham Dental School in 1996, following which she worked
as a Vocational Trainee in an NHS practice in East London. Maria won an award as VT of
the year in 1997. In 1998 Maria started a two-year full-time MClinDent (Endodontology)
program at the Eastman Dental Institute. Maria gained the MFDS (TC White Medal)
from Glasgow. Her name has been included on the GDC Endodontics specialist
list since 2002. Currently Maria’s time is divided between endodontic practice and
teaching. She has taught undergraduates and continues to teach postgraduates at
Eastman Dental Hospital (UCL). She is the immediate past President of the British
Endodontic Society and has been involved in launching the early career group and
promoting the various education material available after the pandemic including
the Good Endodontic Practice Guide.

Challenges and Dilemmas in Endodontic Diagnosis and Treatment
Planning
The session will cover challenges and dilemmas in Endodontic diagnosis and
treatment planning, including discussion on pulp status, periapical status,
terminology used by different bodies, non-odontogenic pain, and maxillary sinusitis
of endodontic origin.
