                             ASSOC. PROF. DR HANY MOHAMED ALY AHMED
                             Dr Ahmed graduated with a BDS (2002) from the Faculty of Dentistry, Ain Shams
                             University, Egypt. In 2006, he obtained Higher Dental Diploma in clinical endodontics,
                             followed  by  a  PhD  from  USM.  He  was  awarded  for  the  best  laboratory  research
                             (2014) and publication award (2020). Dr. Ahmed has over 120 publications. In 2012,
                             he introduced a new classification for endo-perio lesions, followed by a new system
                             for classifying root canal morphology in 2017. He is a registered Clinical Consultant
                             in  Endodontics  with  the  Egyptian  Dental  Syndicate  and  a  key  opinion  leader  for
                             dental companies. Currently, Dr. Ahmed is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of
                             Dentistry, UM. Recently, he was awarded membership from the Faculty of Dental
                             Trainers,  Royal  College  of  Surgeons  (Edinburgh).  Dr  Ahmed  is  the  Deputy  Editor-
                             in-Chief of the European Endodontic Journal, and one of the Editors for the book
                             entitled “Endodontic Advances and Evidence-based Clinical Guidelines” published
                             by Wiley in 2022.

                             Lecture:
                             Missed Canals During Root Canal Treatment: The Tricky Challenge!
                             Root  canal  treatment  procedures  require  meticulous  understanding  of  the  root
                             and canal anatomy. Each tooth type has its own normal and unusual root and canal
                             anatomy. Inadequate awareness of these wide anatomical variations usually results
                             in treatment failure, mainly because of the occasion of missed canals. This lecture
                             provides an overview for the wide range of variations in root canal anatomy in every
                             tooth type, ways to detect and prevent the occasion of missed canals on the light of
                             recent advances in research and clinical practice.


                             DR DARSHA MEYYAPPAN
                             Dr Darsha Meyyappan is a board-certified orthodontist with the Ministry of Health
                             Malaysia. She has a diverse and extensive career close to 15 years in both the public
                             and private sector.

                             She obtained her basic dental qualification from Sri Ramachandra University, India
                             in 2010 with distinction, and pursued the Diploma of Membership of the Faculty of
                             Dental  Surgery  (MFDS)  from  the  Royal  College  of  Surgeons  of  Edinburgh,  United
                             Kingdom in 2012. She achieved several academic merits as an undergraduate student
                             including a Gold Medal by the Indian Association of Public Health Dentistry in the
                             year 2008. Always having a passion for orthodontics, she successfully completed her
                             specialist training in UKM, Malaysia with distinction and also attained the orthodontic
                             qualification from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, United Kingdom.

                             Dr Darsha is an evidence-based practitioner who firmly believes that a clinician needs
                             to continuously learn and adapt to the new evidence and advances in dentistry to
                             give the best possible treatment experience for their patients. She currently runs
                             her own private practice and still actively engages in community related teaching
                             &  dental  awareness  programs.  Dr  Darsha’s  main  areas  of  interests  include  clear
                             aligners, temporary anchorage devices (TAD), and orthognathic surgeries.
