Lecture : Dental Management of Long COVID-19 Patients
It has been more than 2 years since the first reported cases of SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) in
Wuhan, China. The disease is now existing in almost all continents in the world.

Apart from managing the Covid-19 patients, dental practitioners as one of the primary
healthcare providers, are now also treating patients who had survived the Covid-19 yet with
long-term complications. This lecture aims to highlight the multisystemic complications of
Covid-19 and to provide practical suggestions when managing these long Covid-19 patients
at the dental clinic setting, based on the available literature.

                                Dr. Fumiaki Yamazaki
                                BDS (Kyushu), PhD (Osaka)

Dr. Fumiaki Yamazaki graduated from Kyushu Dental University in 1995. In 2002, he set
up his own dental clinic, the “Yamazaki Dental Clinic’’ in Toyama Prefecture. In 2012, he
became a Suction Denture Instructor of the Japan Plate Denture Association (JPDA).
Dr Fumiaki Yamazaki completed his postgraduate course and obtained PhD from Osaka
University in 2016. In 2017, Dr Yamazaki has been appointed as Ivoclar BPS Clinical Instructor.
He is also holding the position of Vice-President of Japan Plate Denture Association (JPDA)
in 2020, and in 2021, he has been appointed as adviser of KULZER Co.
Dr Yamazaki has co-authored a dissertation on Journal of Oral Rehabilitation in January
2020 with title “Determination of the lingual border of lower complete dentures: How to
                                use a silicone impression material?”.

Lecture : Suction Effective Mandibular Complete Denture
( SEMCD ) and Digital Dentures
The application of suction effective mandibular complete denture (SEMCD) offers many
advantages, including the simplicity of its procedure, and an increase in denture retention
which leads to an improved feeling of denture security, jaw relationship, and ultimately, a
higher level of patient satisfaction. While the procedures involved are simple, there are some
critical points that may result in an imperfect denture. With recent digital technology, many
of these critical points can be successfully navigated. It is my opinion based on over 200
                                cases with digital.

                                1. Digital is more efficient
                                2. Digital is more accurate
                                3. Digital requires less skill
                                4. Digital Dentures are more patient friendly
The purpose of this lecture is to introduce the application of SEMCDs using digital.
