SPEAKER PROFILE (DAY 2)
Dr. Daylene Jack-Min Leong
BDS, MS
Dr. Daylene Leong is an accredited Dental Specialist in Periodontics registered with the
Singapore Dental Council. She received her basic dental training at National University
of Singapore and specialty training in Periodontology from the University of Michigan,
USA. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, a Diplomate of the
International Congress of Oral Implantologists and a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine,
Singapore.
Dr Leong is currently in full-time private practice and a part-time Clinical Tutor at the
National University of Singapore. She is also an Adjunct Clinical Senior Lecturer at
International Medical University, Malaysia. She is an active member of the American
Academy of Periodontology, the International Team for Implantology (ITI) and previously
served in the executive committee of the Society of Periodontology (Singapore).
Dr Leong actively presents at dental conferences, study clubs and public talks. Sh
e has also published several scientific papers in internationally recognized peer-reviewed
scientific journals and has contributed to chapters in a couple of popular dental speciality
textbooks. Her many academic awards include being the recipient of the Inaugural Dr
Benson Duff Graduate Periodontics Memorial Scholarship Award from the University of
Michigan, the National University of Singapore Alumni Bursary Award, and a Dean’s Lister
and medalist with the South East Asia Association for Dental Education. She was also a
President’s Girl Guide.
Dr Leong’s current clinical work involves providing an extensive range of periodontal and
implant therapy to patients with complex periodontal conditions. Dr Leong has a special
interest in esthetic and periodontal plastic surgery, dental implants and periodontal
regenerative procedures.
Lecture: How To Minimise Biological Implant Complications
The WHO Global Oral Health Status Report (2022) estimated that oral diseases affect close
to 3.5 billion people worldwide. Of which, severe periodontal diseases are estimated to
affect around 19% of the global adult population, representing more than 1 billion cases
worldwide. With the increasing demand for dental implants, the incidence of dental implant
complications will also rise. This talk will cover the contributing factors for biological implant
complications and some of the ways to minimise or prevent these complications for long
term dental implant success.
