RISING STARS SPEAKER
DR AMIRUZEHAN BIN KASSIM
Dr Amiruzehan is a dynamic dental professional actively engaged in the field of
Endodontics. Graduating with a BDS from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in 2013,
he acquired valuable experience serving with the Ministry of Health in Kota Kinabalu
and rural areas in Kinabatangan, Sabah, before making the transition to private
practice. Working closely alongside a diverse spectrum of specialists, he honed his
skills in restorative dentistry.
Driven by a commitment to advancing patient care, he embarked on specialist training
in endodontics at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 2019, earning his Doctor
of Clinical Dentistry in Endodontology in 2023. Dr. Amiruzehan currently practices at
Klinik Pergigian Presidental in Denai Alam, Shah Alam, where he manages a wide
array of endodontic cases, odontogenic pain cases, and dental trauma referrals. A
dedicated proponent of ongoing education, he actively participates and presents at
both national and international conferences, ensuring he remains up to date with
the latest trends and developments in the field. Beyond the realm of dentistry, Dr.
Amiruzehan nurtures his passion for travel and finds fulfillment in motivating and
guiding aspiring dentists along the path to pursuing specialist training.
Lecture:
Sealer-Based Obturation: Revolutionizing Contemporary
Endodontic Practices.
Gutta-percha has long been the core material in modern endodontics for
obturation, yet its limitations in sealing capacity have necessitated the integration
of supplementary endodontic sealers. Various sealers, including zinc oxide eugenol
(ZOE)-based, resin-based, glass ionomer-based, silicon-based, and calcium hydroxide-
containing sealers, have been introduced over time, each with distinct advantages
and disadvantages. However, traditional sealers are prone to some degree of
volumetric shrinkage during the setting process, limiting their use in larger volumes
due to the potential formation of voids and gaps. The introduction of calcium silicate
(CS) cement has transformed the traditional “single-cone” approach by showcasing
enhanced flow characteristics and minimal volume expansion during setting,
thus reducing the risk of void formation and enhancing antibacterial properties.
The lecture will translate research findings into clinical practice, emphasizing the
properties and benefits of the calcium silicate sealer, along with clinical techniques
aimed at ensuring successful long-term outcomes in endodontic procedures.
